Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) is the most commonly used cement globally. It is produced by grinding clinker and gypsum to a fine powder. Known for its high early strength and versatility, OPC is used in a wide range of construction projects.
Grades of OPC in India-
- OPC 33 Grade: Minimum compressive strength of 33 MPa (N/mm²) after 28 days.
– Used for light construction like plastering and small residential projects.
- OPC 43 Grade: Minimum compressive strength of 43 MPa (N/mm²) after 28 days.
– Ideal for general construction, bridges, and RCC works.
- OPC 53 Grade: Minimum compressive strength of 53 MPa (N/mm²) after 28 days.
– Preferred for high-strength applications like high-rise buildings, industrial projects, and pre-stressed concrete.
